The purpose of this committee is to showcase emergency medicine members, their contributions, and all that emergency medicine provides to serve our communities and their members. Specifically, the Strategic goals of the committee are:
- To raise awareness and encourage DEM members and trainees to apply for awards and celebrate award nominee recognition valued by the provincial, national, and global Emergency Medicine communities, the Faculty of Medicine and the University of British Columbia
- To entertain and discuss ideas of what new department-level awards we might consider establishing in the future and recommend to DEMAC
- To establish and oversee departmental pathways to provide information on awards, the purpose of which is to ensure DEM members and trainees are fully aware of all opportunities
- To select a short list of priority awards from the existing list circulated by the UBC Faculty of Medicine and recommend these to DEMAC for more focused efforts to raise awareness and put forth candidates
