Innovative Research
Department of Emergency Medicine researchers participate in a range of innovative research to contribute to improving care in emergency departments across the province.
Our faculty are recognized for research initiatives in road safety, patient safety policy and culture, cardiovascular emergencies, resuscitation, stroke/transient ischemic attacks, toxicology, infectious disease, procedural sedation and analgesia, mass gathering medicine, pre-hospital care and digital emergency medicine. Emerging initiatives focus on wilderness medicine and the emergency response to mental health and addictions.
High-Quality Training
We strive to provide medical students with excellent emergency medicine training so they are prepared for emergency challenges in their chosen career, preparing and supporting emergency residents for the challenge of a career in clinical and academic emergency medicine, and supporting continuing professional development and competency for all physicians in emergency practice.
Our extensive training programs include undergraduate medical education, postgraduate medical education through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Emergency Medicine (EM) Residency Program and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) Residency Program, as well as Pediatric EM and EM Ultrasound fellowships.
