For Research Day 2026, we are thrilled to welcome our Visiting Professor, Dr. Amy Plint. She will present on the vital connections between research and patient care. With 30 years of experience in emergency medicine, Dr. Plint will share valuable insights on how to integrate research into clinical practice.
As a pediatric emergency physician at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Dr. Amy Plint also serves as a Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She built a solid foundation during her medical training at McMaster Medical School (1991), completed her pediatric residency at the University of Manitoba (1995), and completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Ottawa (1996). Her expertise grew further when she earned a Master’s in Epidemiology from the University of Ottawa (2006).
Dr. Plint is a national award-winning researcher and leader, aiming to enhance the care of children visiting the emergency department. She focuses on managing common respiratory illnesses and injuries while prioritizing patient safety. Her extensive knowledge and experience as a trialist enable her to lead regulated trials that directly benefit the pediatric population.
As a former Chair and current Past Chair of Pediatric Emergency Research Canada (PERC), she plays a vital role in a well-respected network of health researchers devoted to advancing care. Her involvement as a board member of TREKK (Translating Emergency Knowledge for Kids) and her current executive position with the international Pediatric Emergency Research Network (PERN) highlight her commitment to knowledge mobilization and collaboration in pediatric emergency medicine.
