Clinical Faculty members play a vital role in our department. They teach and inspire our learners and are role models for the next generation of healthcare professionals. More than 800 practicing emergency physicians contribute significantly to the Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) as Clinical Faculty members, engaging in teaching, administration, professional development, and research.
A Clinical Faculty appointment is required for health professionals who supervise and educate UBC learners in clinical settings for several reasons, including:
- Faculty appointments are required to meet medical school and program accreditation requirements
- Individuals holding faculty appointments are covered by UBC insurance
- For those individuals teaching in the MD programs, the UBC FOM Clinical Faculty Compensation Terms for Teaching in the MD Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs establishes a contractual relationship for teaching.
