Invitation to Join the Clinical Faculty Mentoring Program 2025-26
Are you a clinical faculty member or someone interested in teaching and supervising students? Do you have a passion for mentorship and want to become more involved with the UBC Faculty of Medicine (FoM)? Are you seeking support from an experienced clinical faculty colleague or interested in mentoring a more junior colleague?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you might be interested in the Clinical Faculty Mentoring Program. This formal mentoring initiative aims to support the career advancement of clinical faculty in administration, clinical practice, and teaching, thereby enhancing overall engagement within the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
UBC Faculty Affairs and the UBC Division of Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD) are coordinating this program on behalf of the Faculty of Medicine.
While the program has a formal structure, each mentoring pair can customize various aspects of their relationship, including the frequency, duration, and format of meetings, as well as the overall scope of their interaction. Mentees will establish learning goals to guide their mentoring meetings. It is recommended that mentors and mentees meet monthly over a seven-month period, whether in person, by phone, or online, based on the mentor’s location. After application, mentee applicants can review profiles of all mentor applicants and rank their top three preferred choices. Program staff will use this information for matching mentors and mentees.
Participation in this program is free of charge, and the total time commitment is approximately nine hours over the seven-month period. If you already have someone in mind as a mentor, please encourage them to join the program alongside you.
For more information and to access the online application form, please visit Faculty of Medicine’s Continuing Professional Development. Applications close on July 15, 2025. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the program further, feel free to contact UBC CPD Education Manager, Allison Macbeth.
This program is offered annually.
