Chloe Johnstone is a human resources assistant with the UBC Department of Emergency Medicine. She obtained her degree in kinesiology from UBC and is a certified personal trainer and spin instructor.

How long have you worked in the Department/UBC?

I have been working for the UBC Department of Emergency Medicine since February 2022. Prior to that, I graduated with a Bachelor of Kinesiology (BKin) from UBC in 2018, so I am thrilled to be able to continue my relationship with the university.

Can you summarize what you do in the Department?

As the HR Assistant for the Department of Emergency Medicine, I support the department by assisting the administrative team in all staff, student and faculty employment lifecycle processes. My portfolio focuses especially on facilitating appointments, reappointments, and promotions.

What is your favorite thing about working in the Department?

My favourite thing about working for the department is the continued emphasis on professional development and learning. I feel supported everyday by the powerhouse group of people that I work with most closely on the administrative team, as well as our departmental leadership.

What is one interesting fact about you that people may not know?

Something that may, or may not, surprise some is that I am a huge musical theatre enthusiast! In high school I participated in every show that would have me and even performed in two separate productions of Little Shop of Horrors.

What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?

I am a certified personal trainer and spin instructor! Movement and wellness have always been a passion of mine that I love to share with everyone in my life. Otherwise, you can find me reading, drinking coffee, or reading with a coffee.
