RCPSC-EM Residency Program Leadership Update

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Tina Yokota will be taking on the new role of Assistant Director, RCPSC-EM Residency Program, Vancouver!

As the Assistant Director, Dr. Yokota will support Dr. Brian Chung, Associate Director, RCPSC-EM Residency Program, Vancouver in the day-to-day administration of the residency program at the Vancouver site. She will support the continued transition to Competency Based Medical Education and work closely with residents to ensure training milestones are met. Dr. Yokota will also provide leadership in assigned areas of curriculum development, and support a number of programmatic activities.

Dr. Tina Yokota completed medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland before returning to Canada to complete her FRCPC EM training at the University of Alberta. Since graduating, she has worked at Vancouver General Hospital where she has pursued her passion in medical education via her involvement with both the Undergraduate and Post Graduate Medical Education programs at UBC. Dr. Yokota also completed a Masters of Education at Johns Hopkins University, equipping her with a strong foundation in curriculum development, assessment/evaluation, and innovation. On her off time she loves to spend time outdoors climbing, hiking, and backpacking with her friends, partner, and dog.

The leadership team is excited to work alongside Dr. Yokota in building upon a strong and supportive program site and learning environment that enables our trainees to thrive and have a superior educational experience. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Yokota to her new role!

I would also like to extend a special thank you to the selection committee for engaging in a thoughtful process and taking the time to contribute to this important decision.

Sincerely,
Kevin Clark, MD, M.Med.Ed., FRCPC
