Dr. Eric Grafstein is the co-medical director of the newly opened Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), an initiative launched in Vancouver’s downtown eastside in response to the current opioid overdose crisis. BC Health Minister Terry Lake toured the facility which offers a unique combination of services, operating as a mobile emergency room and addictions referral centre.
More than 620 people in BC have died due illicit drug overdose this year. The facility is located at 58 West Hastings Street and is staffed from 9am to 3pm, seven days a week.
