Clinical Faculty Transfers
Faculty members with an active Clinical Faculty appointment at UBC are not eligible for a second Clinical Faculty appointment in another department. However, they can still teach across departments under their existing appointment.
If a faculty member wishes to establish a formal affiliation with the Department of Emergency Medicine (EMED), they have two options:
Transfer to EMED – If their primary teaching responsibilities are with EMED and they want it to be their main department, they can transfer their appointment from their current department to EMED. This process requires resigning from the existing appointment only after their application to EMED is successfully approved. To apply for a Clinical Faculty transfer, the following documents must be submitted to emergency.hr@ubc.ca:
- Clinical Faculty Application Form (CFA)
- Clinical Faculty Payment Instruction Form
- An up-to-date, detailed Abbreviated (short-form) UBC CV
- Letter of support from the Emergency Department Site Head
Associate Membership with EMED – If they want to maintain their current appointment while also contributing to teaching in EMED, they can apply for an Associate Membership. This option allows them to formally collaborate with EMED while keeping their existing faculty appointment. To apply for an Associate Membership, the following documents must be submitted to emergency.hr@ubc.ca:
- An up-to-date, detalied Abbreviated (short-form) UBC CV
- A letter of intent explaining the request for Associate Membership
