Congratulations to Dr. Devin Harris for leading a team that has won the following knowledge translation research award: “Implementation and Evaluation of an Emergency Department Atrial Fibrillation Pathway”. Other members on the team include Drs. Dan Kalla, Chris Dewitt, Frank Scheuermeyer, Rob Stenstrom, Eric Grafstein, Iraj Poureslami and Julian Marsden. Funding is from Pfizer Canada in an unrestricted award of $40,000.
The aim of this program of research is to examine current practice, develop, and measure the impact of an emergency department atrial fibrillation pathway on adherence to best practices for atrial fibrillation patients, including rates of appropriate anti-thrombotic and anti-coagulation use. The results of this study are expected to influence care for atrial fibrillation patients locally, and provincially, through an integrated knowledge translation structure.
