Dr. James Heilman writes and fixes Wikipedia medical information

Cranbrook physician Dr. James Heilman is the only BC doctor, and one of only a few hundred physicians worldwide, who volunteers his time writing and editing Wikipedia to ensure its accuracy as a medical resource. As he explains in the Vancouver Sun profile, “Improving content on the internet is important global public health work, especially since medical pages alone on Wikipedia get more than seven billion page views a year, in 285 languages.”

Dr. Heilman will be speaking at the upcoming Wikimania 2017 conference, Aug 9-13. More on his session “Wikipedia & Medicine, A Year in Review” can be found here.
