Applications to the CCFP-EM programs can be made through the CaRMS website. Applicants are encouraged to plan early as this can be a time consuming process and the deadlines are firm. Applications are judged based on clinical performance, letters of reference, aptitude for emergency medicine and willingness to learn new ideas. There is no mandate for preferential treatment of BC graduates.
I am a practicing physician – can I apply?
Practicing physicians who hold a CCFP designation are welcome to apply and will be assessed equally with active resident applications.
If you are looking for more training in emergency medicine but do not wish to commit an entire year, customized training plans of up to three months can be arranged through the UBC Department of Family Medicine Enhanced Skills Program or through the Rural Education Action Plan (REAP) Program.
